The 12 Most Helpful iPhone 5 Apps

An iPhone has the ability to make your life much easier if you use it right. That means using the best apps you can. There are more than enough fun games to waste away any class (and I do) as well as countless hours. But, what apps can actually save you time and some hassle in life? I’ve found the best that absolutely anyone can use. These aren’t meant for just moms or students or singles, or any particular group (but if you are interested in apps for moms or women, check out this and this). These are the helpful apps that usually lure people into buying an iPhone, and I’ve chosen the must haves for you.
1.) Shopkick Shopkick makes shopping more fun. You earn points for walking into store, scanning things in the stores or simply earn a few points by opening the app and tapping on the stores. You can use these points for rewards like iTunes giftcards, gas credit cards, several other giftcards and an xbox for the high achievers. I personally have redeemed $30 of iTunes giftcards, which has saved me some cash and made for a good birthday gift.
2.) Siri Siri turns your phone into a personal assistant. All you have to do is say a command and it does it. Things like “reserve a table for 2 at 7 pm at the best sushi place around here”, “what movies are playing around here”, “get the flight status of American flight 743″ or “call me a taxi” and many more. This cool little app takes care of little things much like an assistant and best of all, it’s free!
3.) Textnow I love this one, because it has eliminated my text message plan, saving me about $15 per month on my cellphone bill. It gives you a telephone number free of charge that can receive phone calls as well (at a charge). And, it operates on the internet, which came in handy for me when traveling abroad. I could avoid roaming charges by simply connecting to wi-fi and getting all of my text messages.

Dell achieves AMD Fusion

After so many ages of waiting the Fusion devices are upon us, and here's Dell's entry. It's the M102z, rocking an AMD E-350 processor at 1.6GHz and Radeon HD 6310 graphics, 4GB of RAM, and an 11.6-inch display managing 1366 x 768 -- not bad for a little guy priced at $699. If that's a little too rich there's a 1GHz model with half the memory and slightly lower spec graphics for $599.

Wacom Inkling digital sketch pen

Wacom's new digital pen can't help but stand out from the competition. It's a specialized device that makes no apologies for catering to graphics enthusiasts at the expense of casual note-takers. Moreover, it does something pretty amazing: instead of just turning your sketches into simple bitmaps, it can also export them as vector-based images with multiple layers, which means they can be directly used as the basis for more complex and final art. The Inkling will cost £150 ($230 converted) when it reaches European stores in October, but in the meantime we've got some early hands-on impressions right after the break.Via

How would you change Motorola's Atrix 4G?

Motorola's Atrix 4G may have some serious competition from a performance standpoint, but it's still got one thing going for it over all of the other Android superphones hitting the streets these days: an optional laptop dock. 'Course, it's debatable whether or not said accessory is truly worth paying for, but the phone itself has certainly done its fair share of impressing.

The iPad 2

Apple has just made its second-generation iPad 2 official! It features a 1GHz dual-core A5 chip and, finally, cameras, both on the front and rear. The new CPU is said to be up to twice as fast, with graphics performance up to nine times better than on the original iPad, while power requirements have been kept the same.
This is so simple. Continuance is a set of batteries with a USB interface on the side. The batteries are rechargeable plus dole out some juice to stranded gadgets that are starved of power. Handy, compact and a totally do-able concept! Kudos!
Continuance is an iF concept design entry for 2011

HTC Sensation versus Incredible S and Desire S a family scuffle

We just so happened to have our review units of HTC's Incredible S and Desire S on hand during today's Sensation launch event, so what else to do with them than to throw them in with the new 4.3-incher and shoot some photos? The gallery below should give you a pretty good idea of the physical differences between HTC's trio of foremost Android devices for the European market. You won't be able to tell much about the difference a dual-core processor makes, but then what's life without a little mystery

Samsung Galaxy S II

The Samsung Galaxy S line of smartphones had variants on all four major US wireless carriers, and on several regional carriers, and is an extremely successful line. The Samsung Galaxy S II takes the best of the Galaxy S line and improves it with an amazing 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, dual-core 1 GHz processor, 8.49mm form factor, 21 Mbps HSPA+ support, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, 8 megapixel camera, integrated memory and microSD card, 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, and more. The amazing Samsung display itself might be a reason to buy this device and if it comes to T-Mobile then I will likely be buying one for myself. You won’t have to worry about an OS upgrade since the Galaxy S II launches with Gingerbread already loaded too.

Verizon 4G MiFi here soon

The Verizon 4G (LTE) network blew my socks off when I tested it at launch here in Houston. While the HTC Thunderbolt 4G is currently available from Big Red to tap the fast network, I have been anxiously awaiting for a 4G MiFi to tap into that speed. The appearance of MiFi units from Samsung and Novatel have appeared on an internal Verizon rebate list, indicating they may be on store shelves soon.
The MiFi unit is my preferred method of tapping into mobile networks. Slightly bigger than a credit card, the MiFi can be used to get multiple devices onto the network anywhere there is coverage, using the devices’ WiFi connection. The Samsung 4G MiFi I saw last month in action was super-fast and an ideal way to tap into the LTE network with any WiFi-enabled laptop or tablet.

T-Mobile LG G2X

LG really hasn’t focused on the high end Android smartphone market, but this year they will be offering several compelling candidates. One of the first ones that we should see will launch on T-Mobile as the LG G2x. This is the US model of the LG Optimus 2X and is a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor smartphone running Android 2.2 with support for T-Mobile’s fast HSPA+ network. It will include an 8 megapixel camera, 4 inch display, enhanced audio technologies, front facing 1.3 megapixel camera, and 1080p recording capability. T-Mobile has a high powered lineup of Android devices and the G2X looks to be at the top of the heap.

Hands-on with Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

The folks at MobileBurn takes a look at the new updated Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android Honeycomb tablet that was revealed at CTIA 2010. The Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 is the bigger brother of the Galaxy Tab, featuring a 10.1″ display 1GHz dual-core processor, Android 3.0 and an 3MP camera that can record video in HD.

Galaxy Tab takes thinnest tablet crown

Samsung has unveiled not one, but two new tablet additions to its Android mobile product line at Florida's CTIA Wireless 2011. The company has managed to slim down the width profile on both devices to an iPad 2-beating 8.6mm (0.33-inch), claiming the crown for the world's thinnest tablets in the process. The 8.9-inch and 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab devices both get a couple of cameras, benefit from dual-core processing and come in three storage choices.

Transparent Touchscreen | Concept Phone

British car maker Aston Martin is looking to leverage its luxury brand into the world of consumer electronics by teaming up with Canadian mobile phone manufacturer Mobiado to produce a line of high-end handsets to be launched in May of this year. Until then, the company has provided a tantalizing peek at possible future designs with the CPT002 Aston Martin Concept Phone that takes the 'slab of glass' design of many current smartphones to the next level. With a solid sapphire crystal capacitive touchscreen, the CPT002 is completely transparent.

Motorola Xoom | Overview

Motorola can be proud of Xoom because it managed to achieve so many great things even before being officially launched. For starters Motorola’s tablet was the first ever device to be spotted in the wild powered by Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb, in the hands of Andy Rubin. It’s marketing campaign is one move short of a law-suit from Apple and the Motorola Xoom specs put it in a class of its own, a class in which the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the LG Optimus Pad / G-Slate are trying to get into.

Apple iOS 5 To Launch In The Fall

Apple usually launches the next major update to iOS at the same time as it launches the iPhone 5, which we are expecting to be unveiled in June or July of this year.
TechCrunch are reporting that we may not see iOS 5 launching until the Fall of 2011, which would either mean that it will not launch at the same time as the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 5 launch will be in the Fall.

Samsung Galaxy Tab

Apparently in order for something to be considered luxurious these days, it needs to be encrusted in Swarovski crystals. So to make sure that their customers weren’t forced to use some second rate tablet PC, Harrods unveiled a crystal encrusted version of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab. The Crystal Galaxy Tab is encrusted with 5,700 Swarovski crystals and the logo is done in Jet Hematite.

Samsung Galaxy Tab vs. Apple iPad: Specs Compared

see Samsung’s up-and-coming Android tablet measured up next to the reigning champ, as we compare Samsung’s Galaxy Tab vs. the Apple iPad from a specifications perspective.

What the heck is a tablet computer?

Mainstream America might never have known before Apple bushwhacked its way through technical barriers, misconceptions and skeptics stake its claim on tablet computing with the iPad. The breakthrough tablet, which Apple still struggles to keep in stock, dodged mistakes made by previous tablets by making computing with your fingers easy, relatively inexpensive , and above all, fun.
